HealthSense Medical Centre  at Golden Grove, Adelaide is a bulk billing General Practice dedicated to providing exceptional services for the health and wellbeing of the community, families and general public through a committed team of Doctors and Nurses providing 7 day a week care.

HealthSense Medical Centre has regular training and an external accreditation program that ensures we provide healthcare services to professional standards which meet our patient’s needs, no matter how specialised they may be.

Our Doctors

Dr Sachin Joshi

Dr Sachin (Joshi) is a fellow and member of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He has strong interest in General Medicine, Paediatric, Dermatology, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Geriatrics. He provides Health Assessment, Chronic Disease Management and Coordinated Veterans Care (CVC) in conjunction with our qualified nurse. He does do minor skin lesion surgery. He is qualified to do Implanon insertion and removal. Dr Joshi is a registered doctor with InjuryNET and competent to do Q-Fever vaccination. He migrated with his wife in 2005 and has since had 2 children. In his leisure he likes to watch cricket and play table tennis and golf. He is fluent in Gujarati, Hindi and English.

Dr Kasia Strojek

Dr Kasia Strojek graduated in 2004 from Jagellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Upon settling in Australia in 2006, she worked at Modbury Hospital. She has spent the last 4 years working in Clare, in private practice and at the hospital. Kasia’s interests lie in women’s, children’s health, antenatal care, lactation problems and preventative medicine. She enjoys gardening and long walks. Kasia is fluent in Polish.

Dr Joanne Marshall

FRACGP, BMBS, DCH, BN, GdipGPN

Dr Joanne Marshall completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery through Flinders University and is a fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners as well as holding a Diploma in Child Health. Recent experience at Modbury and Lyell McEwin Hospitals has enabled Joanne to further develop and consolidate skills in; obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics and palliative care. She holds accreditation for Implanon and Mirena insertion as well as being registered for Obstetrics Shared Care and is able to provide Antenatal Care. Joanne does cater for nursing home residents and does minor excisions which includes skin lesion surgery. Before going back to study Medicine Joanne was previously a Registered Nurse and with this experience brings a comprehensive and well rounded understanding of patient care. Joanne enjoys a diverse range of crafts such as crochet and weaving. She also enjoys keeping in touch with the outdoors through walking and bird watching. Joanne is currently studying Spanish.

Dr Javaria Mofazzal

Dr Mofazzal graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Punjab University in 2002 and achieved her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014. Dr Mofazzal worked in country Western Australia, Victoria and New South Wales before moving to Adelaide.

Dr Mofazzal is a Medical educator and examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and is passionate about passing on her knowledge to young doctors.

Javaria is particularly interested in Women’s and adolescent health, chronic disease, dermatology and skin checks, paediatrics, mental health and geriatrics.

Dr Cindy Koh

Dr Koh graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2006 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. She was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014.

Dr Koh has worked and trained throughout South Australia, including the Adelaide Hills and Clare.

Dr Koh’s medical interests include General medicine, obstetric shared care, paediatrics, skin checks, minor excisions and chronic disease management. Dr Koh has a Diploma in Child Health and is an examiner for the RACGP.

Dr Gaurang Prajapati

Dr Gaurang Prajapati is a fellow and member of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He has worked in the South Australian hospital system for 6 years during which he got to work in the Royal Adelaide, Modbury, Lyell McEwin and Women’s and Children’s Hospitals as well as the Flinders Medical Centre. He worked in Paediatric and Child Health for 3 years. His passion and love for General Practice made him leave the hospital system in 2012 and join General Practice in 2013.

He worked in Alice Springs for one year and in Mannum for 18 months. He has a strong interest in Paediatrics, Chronic disease: including – Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart disease; Dermatology; Mens’ health; Mental Health; Musculoskeletal medicine. He enjoys minor surgical procedures – skin cancer removal; Implanon insertion and removal. He does manage work cover injuries; motor vehicle accident and pre-employment medical assessments.

In his free time, he likes to spend quality time with his family and play long games of tennis. He speaks Gujarati, Hindi and English.

Allied Health Providers

Melissa Olech - Physiotherapist

Melissa has had almost 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist in both Adelaide and Sydney, predominantly in private practice. She has lived locally with her young family for over 10 years with involvement in local schools and sporting clubs.

Her extensive experience has been across all age groups, with a particular interest in a wide range of areas.

These Include: Neck pain and headaches, Upper and lower back pain, Postural education and ergonomics, Pain associated with arthritis and ageing, Sports injuries and Growing pain in adolescents. 

Melissa combines a hands-on treatment approach with education and self-management strategies, working closely with her clients to achieve successful outcomes.

Huy - Podiatrist

Huy is a general podiatrist, involved in all aspects of podiatry. He is a registered member of the South Australian Podiatry Association and regularly attends professional development events to keep up to date with the latest in podiatric research. Huy has experience predominantly in private practice, which has helped to develop his skills in diabetic and general footcare, podiatric biomechanics and common foot conditions. His area of interest in podiatry is in foot orthoses, and the process of customising and modifying these devices to suit patients and their individual needs.

Phillip - Podiatrist

Our podiatrist, Phillip Ngo graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Podiatry. After graduation Phillip immediately began work in a number of private practices, which has allowed him to gain a broad and varied perspective of the Podiatry profession. He enjoys all aspects of Podiatry including general care – treating a range of nail/skin pathologies, working with biomechanical conditions, orthotic therapy and nail surgery. Phillip has also gained additional qualifications in Trigger Point Therapy, Dry Needling and Foot Mobilisation Therapy.

Nikki Wright - Dietitian

Nikki is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Flinders University. Her areas of interest my particular interests in weight management, chronic disease, food allergies and intolerances

Nikki understands that sometimes the science of nutrition can be difficult to interpret and loves working with clients on an individual basis to provide practical strategies towards achieving positive health outcomes.

In her spare time, Nikki enjoys cooking for her family and engaging in her favourite type of exercise, boxing.

Dr Tomoko Nishizawa - Psychologist

Tomoko is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Tomoko holds degrees in Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Doctor of Philosophy (Clinical Psychology) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

Tomoko has experience working for various government-based services, such as Community and Inpatient (public hospital) Adult Mental Health services based in metro and rural South Australia. She is experienced in providing assessment and therapy services for a broad range of mental health disorders and issues, which include Mood Disorders (e.g., Depression, BPAD), Anxiety Disorders and Phobias, Borderline Personality Disorder, Trauma related disorders, suicidal ideation, as well as Schizophrenia and Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders.

Tomoko is passionate about working collaboratively with her clients to assist them relieve their psychological distress and build a fulfilling life. Her preferred modes of therapy include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Metacognitive Training. Her particular areas of interest include adolescent and adult mental health, emotion regulation skills and mindfulness-based approach.

Sarah Bayes

Registered Nurse

Sarah completed her nurse training in the UK. She worked for many years in a burns and plastic surgery unit before becoming a Practice Nurse. Sarah Emigrated in 2006 to Melbourne where she continued to work in General Practice and Sports Medicine.
Having recently moved to Adelaide, Sarah is available for consultation Monday to Wednesday. She loves all aspects of Practice Nursing but has a particular interest in Chronic Disease Management, wound care and Immunisation.

Mark Foster

Practice Manager

Mark has a background that encompasses military service in the Australian Regular Army the banking and finance sector and 20 years in Practice Management.

Mark has a Graduate Certificate of Management from the University of New England.

His interests include motor bikes, travelling and social gatherings with friends and family.

Michele Green

Registered Nurse

Michele originally trained as an Enrolled Nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and then obtained her Bachelor of Nursing at the University of South Australia.
Michele has an extensive background in General Practice, prior to which she worked primarily in hospitals within SA.
Michele enjoys all aspects of General Practice Nursing but is particularly interested in the management of Chronic Diseases.

Lel Hill

Senior Receptionist

Lel is born and bred country northern SA, moving to the NT in 1984, and returning to Adelaide in 2012.  She has over 30 years’ health experience working in remote Aboriginal communities as well as in the NT Health system.  She is a trained Dental Nurse, having worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Oral Surgery Unit, as well being experienced in administrative roles in Child Welfare, Drug & Alcohol Services, Radiology, and Elective Surgery.  Lel has also recently had 2 years’ administrative experience working for a specialist Neurologist in the Northern Suburbs.  She enjoys her role working directly with the public and being able to provide a quality health service in the area.  Lel lives locally in the Greenwith area with her family.

Tami Brow

Receptionist

I have come from many years of experience as a medical receptionist in GP land.

I enjoy being able to help wherever I can and enjoy the complexities and challenges my work offers. I love people contact and take pride in what I do. I enjoy reading, movies and spending time with my family.

Mandy Scanlan

Receptionist

Mandy Scanlan, born in the UK and migrated to Australia in the mid 70’s to a small town in outback South Australia. I moved to Adelaide in the mid 80’s, I worked in the Banking industry for the next 20 years.

My husband and I have travelled Australia and recently returned to SA. I have spent the last 5 years as a Medical Receptionist in Radiology.

Debra Ricketts

Receptionist

Debra has worked as a Medical Receptionist for the last two years and enjoys the challenge of learning about General Practice and the Allied Health Services available at Health Sense Medical.
Debra is a keen horsewoman and if not working can usually be found riding one of her horses.

Fiona Kosmala

Receptionist

Fiona has worked in Medical Administration for over 20 years. Including time at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Emergency and Outpatients. Fiona enjoys landscaping and gardening. She has also in the past been involved with volunteering with the Animal Welfare League, where she helps by walking, grooming and feeding dogs that have been abandoned by their owners.

Carly Zwar

Receptionist

Carley has been working in General Practice for three years and enjoys the interaction with patients. At home she enjoys baking, spending time with her young family and weekend trips away.

Appointments

Please ring 8251 3885 for an appointment or book online now. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time & GP. Patients can always request their chosen Doctor.  If the appointment time is unavailable, patients will be offered another appointment time or another Doctor if available.  Emergencies will always take priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there are any unforeseen delays, or your GP has been called away.  Please ring the surgery if you will be running late and unable to attend your appointment.  Longer consultation times are available, please ask our reception staff if you require some extra time.  If a family member or you require an interpreter, please let us know when making an appointment and this can be arranged for you. 

Telephone Access

8251 3885 – The Doctor’s in the practice may be contacted during normal surgery hours.  If the Doctor is with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise your Doctor of your call.  Your GP or reception staff will return your call

Clinpath Pathology collection service is open from 8am to 1pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday.

After Hours

Our after-hours medical service is provided by Home Doctors, please call 13 74 25.

Home Visits

Home visits can be made only by prior arrangement with the receptionist and at the discretion of the Doctor.  Home visits can only be conducted within 10km range.

Billing Information

BULK BILLING: we are a Bulk Billing Practice for Standard Medicare Consultations. Some Procedures may incur a Fee – you will be advised by reception staff at the time of booking.

PAPERWORK is not claimable through Medicare, eg insurance reports, insurance medicals, commercial/heavy vehicle licences & pre-employment medicals.  Please check with reception staff regarding these fees.

SCHEDULE OF FEES: a Schedule of Fees can be obtained from our reception staff.

ALLIED HEALTH PROVIDERS may charge a fee. With a GP Care Plan referral from your doctor you may be entitled to a rebate.  Please check with reception for fees.

Results

Abnormal or non-urgent results will require an appointment with your doctor.  These results will NOT be given over the phone or to a third party.

Normal results will be given to the patient at the request of the doctor.  These may be given over the phone or in writing.  However, the content of a normal result can only be discussed with your doctor.

Urgent results, a patient will be requested to arrange an appointment to see their doctor.

Non-urgent results a patient will be required to see his/her GP.

Reminder System

Our practice is committed to preventative care.  Your Dr will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system.  We may issue you with a reminder notice, phone call, text message or email from time to time offering you Preventative Health Services appropriate to your care.

If you do not wish to be part of this system please advise your Dr or Reception Staff.

Cancellation Policy

LACK OF COURTESY CANCELLATION FEE

If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, we request that you contact us to change or cancel your appointment time a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. A fee will be charged for failure to attend your appointment or cancel at short notice.

Allied Health Providers have had to introduce a nonattendance fee where a courteous cancellation call has not been provided to the clinic giving 48hour notice.  If a genuine emergency has prevented last minute attendance please discuss with the practice manager for consideration to waive this fee.

Privacy Policy

Management of your Personal Health Information: Your Medical Record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of HealthSense Medical Centr to maintain security of Personal Health Information at all times & to ensure that this information is only available to an authorized member of staff and will not be passed on to any third party without the written consent of the patient.

We abide by the National Privacy Principals available at www.oaic.gov.au/privacy. If you require our privacy policy we will gladly supply upon request from our reception staff.

Your Rights

If you have a problem or concern regarding any aspect of the service you received, we would like to hear about it. Please feel free to talk to your Doctor or Practice Manager.  You may prefer to write to us (practicemanager@healthsensemc.com.au) or use our suggestion box.  We take your concerns, suggestions and complaints seriously.

Filomena completed her tertiary education at the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Post-graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology. She holds a Master of Creative Writing from University of Canberra.
She has over 30 years’ experience as a Psychologist and Clinical Hypnotherapist. While her experience spans both Public and Private sectors she maintains an uninterrupted career in private practice.

Dr Sarah Blunden, clinical psychologist (BA Psychology Honours, MSocSc, PhD, MAPS), is the founder and director the Australian Centre for Education in Sleep. Dr Blunden has spent the past 10 years researching, treating and lecturing on children’s sleep both nationally and internationally, as well as delivering education and information sessions to the community, educators and health care professionals. Dr Blunden is recognised as an authority on children’s sleep and is widely published in the field. Dr Blunden is passionate about communicating the importance of sleep to communities and families.

Brooke Michell, registered psychologist is passionate about assisting people to bring positive change in their lives. Brooke has interest in all areas of wellbeing and is also involved in diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders in children. Brooke feels that these changes can be gradual and respectful to both the child and their parents.

Serge graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2006 as a Psychologist. He settled in Adelaide in 2011, where he has been running a successful private practice working with other medical professions. Serge has not only worked in private practice, but throughout the mental health sector, non-government agencies and public hospitals. Serge’s interests lay in all things psychological from mental health disorders to life’s purpose and meaning. Whatever the concern, he is happy to share his knowledge and experience.

Harriet is an Accredited Practising Dietitian with experience in private practice, community health promotion and acute clinical care. Her areas of interest include surgical and non-surgical weight loss, diabetes, heart disease and gastrointestinal disorders.

Harriet is passionate about all things health and nutrition related and enjoys building supportive relationships with clients around the universal point of connection that is food.

Chris is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a Bachelor of Human Movement from the University of Ballarat. Chris also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Science from UniSA. His areas of interest include diabetes, obesity, pulmonary, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular conditions.

Chris is also a remedial massage therapist and personal trainer and enjoys assisting his clients to create positive changes in their behaviours to enjoy more active healthy lives.

I am a family/community orientated woman with many years of experience as a Registered Nurse and a Credentialed Diabetes Educator with years of experience with all the different kinds of diabetes in the FMC diabetes education unit -acute care arena.

As well as private practice I have also contracted for Educational Research Company Pretium, Auditing GP Diabetes Management Practice and Diabetes SA providing group programs and on occasion’s supermarket tours.

I am a very credible/approachable registered nurse & credentialled diabetes educator by people with diabetes, their support persons, GPs and Endocrinologists and I offer more than 15years experience as a CDE now. I have been on various committees with the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) and for the last 9 years have been on their National Credentialling Committee.

Sue is a Registered Nurse with over 20 years in General Practice, working within several practices and also supporting GPs and Practice Nurses in the Western and North East area of Adelaide. She has represented Division of General Practice programs at many Conferences around Australia, mainly in the areas of Immunisation and Aged Care but has also lead programs in Aboriginal Health, Refugee Health and Population Health within the North East Area of Metropolitan Adelaide. She has a post graduate certificate in Immunisation, a Cert IV of Population Health and a Degree in Nursing Studies.

Lel is born and bred country northern SA, moving to the NT in 1984, and returning to Adelaide in 2012.  She has over 30 years’ health experience working in remote Aboriginal communities as well as in the NT Health system.  She is a trained Dental Nurse, having worked at the Royal Adelaide Hospital Oral Surgery Unit, as well being experienced in administrative roles in Child Welfare, Drug & Alcohol Services, Radiology, and Elective Surgery.  Lel has also recently had 2 years’ administrative experience working for a specialist Neurologist in the Northern Suburbs.  She enjoys her role working directly with the public and being able to provide a quality health service in the area.  Lel lives locally in the Greenwith area with her family.

Mandy Scanlan, born in the UK and migrated to Australia in the mid 70’s to a small town in outback South Australia. I moved to Adelaide in the mid 80’s, I worked in the Banking industry for the next 20 years.

My husband and I have travelled Australia and recently returned to SA. I have spent the last 5 years as a Medical Receptionist in Radiology.

Please ring 8251 3885 for an appointment or book online now. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time & GP. Patients can always request their chosen Doctor.  If the appointment time is unavailable, patients will be offered another appointment time or another Doctor if available.  Emergencies will always take priority and our reception staff will attempt to contact you if there are any unforeseen delays, or your GP has been called away.  Please ring the surgery if you will be running late and unable to attend your appointment.  Longer consultation times are available, please ask our reception staff if you require some extra time.  If a family member or you require an interpreter, please let us know when making an appointment and this can be arranged for you.

Clinpath Pathology collection service is open from 8am to 1pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm on Saturday.

Our after-hours medical service is provided by Home Doctors, please call 13 74 25.

Home visits can be made only by prior arrangement with the receptionist and at the discretion of the Doctor.  Home visits can only be conducted within 10km range.

BULK BILLING is available to those with a Concession or Health Care Card and children under the age of 16. Some procedures incur a GAP payment you will be advised by reception at the time of booking.

PAPERWORK is not claimable through Medicare, eg insurance reports, insurance medicals, commercial/heavy vehicle licences & pre-employment medicals.  Please check with reception staff regarding these fees.

NO CONCESSION/HEALTHCARE CARD will incur a fee of $50 for a standard consultation plus cost of any procedures performed and $45 for a baby not on a current Medicare Card.

SCHEDULE OF FEES can be obtained from our Doctor or from the reception staff.

ALLIED HEALTH PROVIDERS may charge a fee. With a GP Care Plan referral from your doctor you may be entitled to a rebate.  Please check with reception for fees.

HIGHER FEES, Patient’s will be charged a higher fee, if applicable, during Saturday afternoon, all day Sunday and Public Holidays.

Abnormal or non-urgent results will require an appointment with your doctor.  These results will NOT be given over the phone or to a third party.

Normal results will be given to the patient at the request of the doctor.  These may be given over the phone or in writing.  However, the content of a normal result can only be discussed with your doctor.

Urgent results, a patient will be requested to arrange an appointment to see their doctor.

Non-urgent results a patient will be required to see his/her GP.

Our practice is committed to preventative care.  Your Dr will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system.  We may issue you with a reminder notice, phone call, text message or email from time to time offering you Preventative Health Services appropriate to your care.

If you do not wish to be part of this system please advise your Dr or Reception Staff.

LACK OF COURTESY CANCELLATION FEE

If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, we request that you contact us to change or cancel your appointment time a minimum of 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. A fee will be charged for failure to attend your appointment or cancel at short notice.

Allied Health Providers have had to introduce a nonattendance fee where a courteous cancellation call has not been provided to the clinic giving 48hour notice.  If a genuine emergency has prevented last minute attendance please discuss with the practice manager for consideration to waive this fee.

Management of your Personal Health Information: Your Medical Record is a confidential document.  It is the policy of HealthSense Medical Centr to maintain security of Personal Health Information at all times & to ensure that this information is only available to an authorized member of staff and will not be passed on to any third party without the written consent of the patient.

We abide by the National Privacy Principals available at www.oaic.gov.au/privacy. If you require our privacy policy we will gladly supply upon request from our reception staff.
